An experiment - sounds of Cairo

One of those long nights when You twirl in Your bed and find it impossible to fall a sleep. It was 6 am in the morning and something caught my ear - the sounds of Cairo. I heard so many I had to write them down. And then I was curious to compare them to the afternoon and to the evening. Not only sounds, also some feelings it gave me. Its a nice fun but also ear-training experiment. Just open Your home window and start writing.

TIP! At the end of it look at You list as the mirror of the world You are living in;)

Here is my list:

The morning mood of Cairo - strong sandy wind knocking on the windows, hundreds of mosques calling for prayer, birds singing "good morning" melodies, orange African sun rising from the horizon...

The afternoon mood of Cairo - the train horn in a distance, birds singing the relaxed afternoon melodies, the smell of the neighbor's lunch in the making, metal noise of a near-by mechanic, the shouts of a second-hand clothes gathering man, the buzzing of traffic, danging birds at my rooftop, ambulance horns, shouting street children playing football, hundreds of mosques singing for god and calling for prayer, the pulsing shaaby rhythms on young guy's motorbikes, the arguing baladi women downstairs, my BBC channel giving me news from near anf far....and the list goes on!

The evening mood of Cairo - distant traffic sounds and horns, strong whispering wind, the ticking clock in the living room, hungry cats downstairs, wheels of passing bicycle, the moaning sound of the imams from the mosques, human voices bargaining for vegetables, children laughing downstairs, water motor working and stopping, squeaking bats twirling the air, the city is not going to bed, its just waking up from the long workday. The evening prayer is finished, people opening windows and lights, leaving homes. The city is buzzing, breathing and smiling!
