Proud estonian in Cairo

Something so incredible happened I must report this! This will be a very Estonia related post!

Yesterday went to an Italian party: italian friend, italian food, italian music, italian TV-comedy!
PS! The lasagne was oven baked by the host mother in her Italian kitchen and flown to Cairo by hand luggage and served to us freshly oven heaten!
And as the show-stopper we had an Egypt related quiz! They wanted to team me up with my boyfriend Salah, but I decided to keep separate just to test my own knowledge of Egypt!

Here are a few of these questions for You to try;)

1. What does the capital Cairo (El Qahira) name originally mean?
2. Which Cairo metro station name was changed after the revolution? Name the old and the new name.
3. Whats Estonia's biggest export to Egypt?
4. This question was actually an audio question. We listened to 3 men speaking in English, political subject, very short clips of 10 seconds and we had to recognize the speaker. The first one made no connections in my brain and I answered "a goy with a boring voice":)
The second one sounded french so I answered Sakrozi. The third was the most famous and funny quote that is being repeated in Egyptian media "Gas and alcohol does not mix";) And the last one sounded by the content of the text like the UN secretary Ban Ki-Moon.
Anyway I couldn't really catch the connection of these voices to Egypt. I learnt the point later;)

And the bonus question was just so super cool I will dedicate this to the last chapter of this post.

Here are the answers:
1. Victorious
2. They changed the Mubarak station to "El Shohada", meaning the martyrs.
3. Wood!!! I as an estonian had no idea, I admit. As a joke I answered tourists to Sharm and Hurgada, many others answered dancers or girls;). Because 80% of Estonia is covered by forests its only logical that the desert country like Egypt is in big need of it.
4. The second guy was actually the current French president Hollande. Third guy Egyptian president Morsi and his unfortunate attempt to speak engligh. Here is the famous extract from Bassem show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbGx-tW8sNg

And the first guy who's voice was quite American but with no passion or character was ESTONIAN PRESIDENT Toomas Hendrik Ilves. In this moment I stood up, slapped myself and said sorry infront everyone for calling him boring, because he is the best most intelligent president Estonia has ever had! My mistake came from not focusing on the content of the clip, he mentioned Skype, which of course is an Estonian invention;)
The forth guy was Italian prime-minister Silvio Berlusconi.
So the audio questions were actually related to the nationalities of the party quests, we had estonian, egyptian, american, french and italian people!

And now about the bonus question. This was voluntary and If You know it You can perform it and get an extra point. We were asked to sing our national anthem from beginning to end. I remember when in ground school my music teacher asked us to learn the anthem by heart, saying If one day we need to sing it, we know all the words and can feel as proud Estonians. Honestly never in my life before has it happened I need to sing it alone, but yesterday came the day my teacher was talking about and it earned me the extra point, I REMEMBERED ALL THE LYRICS!

So once again I apologize to my president Ilves and Im grateful for my music teacher!

Over and out from Egypt,
The proud estonian in Cairo
